  • What do you want students to learn in these courses? What is the expected learning outcome?

I want students to feel empowered and unafraid to uncover the systems of their districts and schools that serve their teachers, students and community. Through this investigation our students will not only understand the systems, but will become advocates of positive change in their school communities and future roles as educational leaders.

  • Why did you start teaching?

My career goal is to positively impact as many students as possible and to be that consistent supportive teacher/administrator that empowers my students to fulfill their potential. I want to ensure that all students not only feel represented in our school’s curricula and instruction, but also feel valued and supported. My focus is to inspire future teachers to become advocates for their students, empower their community and make positive changes in the world.

  • What advice would you give to those considering this online program?

Get started early! This simple strategy will afford you the time to be able to critically think about the resources provided and develop new pathways of perspective.

  • What is the one book you think everyone should read?

    Atomic Habits by James Clear

  • Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students might not know.

A fun fact about me is that I was (still am, kind of) a hip-hop dancer, and during the summers to pay for college I would dance at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois. One of the singers I backup danced for ended up becoming my wife.
