Develop your ability to formulate and implement management information systems to promote your company's goals in the dynamic online MBA in Management Information Systems (MIS) program from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
In this accelerated, online business master's program, you will study the theory of information systems analysis and the modeling of the decision-making process used in designing effective information systems. Examine factors such as organizational structure and information requirements within the context of ethical, economic and socio-technical factors that affect the design of systems. In addition to developing technical skills, this program studies the behavioral components and human factors that shape managerial effectiveness.
You can complete your degree in as few as 12 months, with no foundation courses required, regardless of your undergraduate background. Our core course work empowers you with a variety of foundational skills and advanced applications. You will study decision-making, accounting, information systems and technology, managerial economics, corporate finance, quantitative analysis, marketing, and more. Plus, the curriculum includes an embedded capstone course focusing on strategic management.
Within our in-depth MIS electives, you will gain expertise in the role of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software in business environments using SAP, and corresponding risk management approaches. You will study emerging technologies with a strategic-level focus, along with query and procedural language (PL/SQL). You will also broaden your knowledge of database structures, application code, techniques and tools for IT systems analysis and design, process-oriented modeling and structured design concepts, re-engineering business processes, and quality assurance and reliability.
In continuously developing and refining the MBA curriculum, we work closely with some of the region's top business professionals to bring theoretical knowledge and real-world experience into the classroom. Many of those same leaders serve on our advisory board, as do alumni who ensure the course work is relevant, up-to-date and tailored to real business needs.
